For more than 13 years, The Learning Child Montessori Academy (TLCMA) has been a trusted leader in high-quality childcare and Montessori education in Calgary. Founded on the belief that early childhood education creates a lifelong impact, TLCMA offers an exceptional full-day Montessori preschool program rooted in independence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning. Our programs inspire young minds to explore, discover, and develop the confidence and passion for learning that can last a lifetime.
Our journey began in Panorama Hills, where we built more than just a school, we built lasting relationships with families who entrusted us with their children’s earliest and most important years. The love and support of our community encouraged us to grow.
In June 2022, we proudly opened our second campus in Willow Park Centre in Southeast Calgary. Within just six months, every space was filled—clear evidence of the trust families continue to place in TLCMA.

In 2024, we were honored to welcome even more families to our Shawnessy campus, where most spaces were already secured before opening day.

In March 2026, we proudly opened our newest location in Southwood, another important milestone in our journey. This expansion reflects not only growth, but the strong relationships we have built with Calgary families who share our belief in the lifelong value of authentic Montessori education.

At the heart of TLCMA is our founder, Kris Diesmos, a passionate educational leader with over 20 years of experience in Early Childhood Development, Family Studies, Special Education, and Montessori Philosophy. An Alberta Certified Educator and Level 3 Child Care Supervisor, with multiple graduate degrees in education and a background in business management, Kris combines deep educational expertise with strong operational leadership. Under her guidance, TLCMA has grown into a safe, innovative, and well-respected organization known for excellence in both education and care.
