For more than 13 years, The Learning Child has been a trusted leader in high-quality childcare and Montessori education in Calgary. Founded on the belief that early childhood education creates a lifelong impact, TLCMA delivers an exceptional full-day Montessori preschool program rooted in independence, curiosity, and a love of learning. Our programs nurture young minds to explore, discover, and develop a genuine passion for learning that lasts a lifetime.

Our journey began in Panorama Hills, where we built more than just a school, we built lasting relationships with families who entrusted us with their children’s early years. The love and support from our community encouraged us to grow. In June 2022, we opened our second home in the Willow Park Centre in SE Calgary, and within six short months, every spot was filled proof of the trust parents continue to place in us. In 2024, we were blessed to welcome even more families at our Shawnessy campus, where most spaces were already filled before the first day of classes. This Fall, we are excited to open our third location in Southwood, a milestone that reflects not just growth, but the deep connections we’ve built with Calgary families who share our belief in the lifelong value of Montessori education.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering trust of our families and the dedication of our incredible team of educators, whose passion and commitment make our mission come alive every day.

At the heart of TLCMA is our founder Kris Diesmos, a passionate leader with over 20 years of experience in Early Childhood Development, Family Studies, Special Education, and Montessori Philosophy. As an Alberta Certified Educator and Level 3 Child Care Supervisor, with multiple graduate degrees in education and a background in business management, she combines deep educational expertise with strong leadership. Under her guidance, TLCMA has become a safe, well-managed, and innovative organization recognized for excellence in education and care.
